The programme Supporting the repatriation of persons deported from Georgia in the 1940s and their descendants is jointly implemented by Acción contra el Hambre, Spain and European Centre for Minority Issues – Caucasus based on funding from the European Union. The locations of the activities include Georgia, various regions, including Tbilisi, Imereti, Guria and Samtskhe-Javakheti; Azerbaijan, different regions, including Saatli and Sabirabad; Kyrgyzstan, Turkey and other countries where deported persons are located. During 18 months of a variety of activities the programme's overall objective is to support the process of repatriation to Georgia of persons deported in the 1940s and their descendants. Particularly, it aims to facilitate the process of resettlement and integration of deported families through an integrated programme of policy support, awareness raising, informational services, repatriation support and socio-economic assistance. The target group of the programme is deported persons/repatriates, while beneficiaries additionally include local host communities and the wider Georgian public.
